A complete full-release walkthrough divides Forever Ago into nine sequential sections: Woolson Falls, Karl’s Pump ‘N’ Mart, Highway Star Diner, On the Road Back Home, The Sam Detour, Captain Marley & The Buccaneers’ Retreat, Winslow Lighthouse, Williamina Peak, and Epilogue. Use them as reliable guide bookmarks. Public evidence has not established that every label is displayed as a formal “chapter” name inside the Steam build.

These route cues summarize the sequence independently; they do not copy the fallback walkthrough’s prose or image order. Names and objectives should be checked against the current game text whenever an update changes prompts.
Opening through the diner
Woolson Falls begins as camera instruction and shared memory. The important completion chain is not simply “take a picture”: follow the prompted portraits and landmarks, continue with Audrey when control changes, develop the final instant photograph, then place it in the journal. Search the opening room before its transition if curious-object photography matters to you.
Karl’s Pump ‘N’ Mart begins the present road trip. Inside the shop, take a basket and find cookies, windshield wipers, and a road atlas. Return to Milton’s counter only after all three supplies are collected. A memory or nightmare passage interrupts the transaction; keep moving through its available route, then complete payment when the scene returns.
Highway Star Diner combines several objectives. The broad sequence is flower, music, booth request, help for Maddy, dog discovery, and the booth memory. Audrey’s favorite flower is outside near the van-side route and telescope area. Her song is selected at the jukebox. Maddy’s task directs Alfred outside, where the investigation leads to the dog. Photograph the animal, report back, and use the booth when access is granted.
Breakdown and Sam’s route
On the Road Back Home is a transition section built around a disabled van. Inspect the leak behind it, the front hood, and the accessible side or interior cue. Retrieve the journal from inside near the dog, then walk to the phone booth. The dream segment beyond it is forward-moving; follow the available path and interact with the phone rather than searching for an optional mechanical repair.
The Sam Detour starts after Alfred wakes. Read the door note, make the available clothing choice, inspect the house, and leave to meet Sam by the van. Examine the van parts until the story establishes that Alfred needs help. Follow Sam, water the plants with refills from the faucet when needed, and continue to the gaskets. After the repair scene, interact with the remaining bolts. A player report describes a possible block near this point, so a non-responsive state should be documented instead of treated as a hidden puzzle.
Resort and lighthouse sequence
Captain Marley & The Buccaneers’ Retreat has the densest objective chain. Find the entrance booth and buy a day ticket, follow the right-side route toward the galley, and complete the linear nightmare. Use planks to cross the broken floor and obtain the bolt cutter. That tool opens the route to the arcade, where turning on the power and playing Guardian Lord completes the objective even if the published walkthrough is correct that a new high score is unnecessary.
Return to the locked areas with the bolt cutter. The souvenir shop contains the mascot-ticket objective near the parrot. Continue toward the docks, open the harbor access, and take the boat to the island. The route includes a photography-triggered memory and a final tree interaction when Alfred returns to the present.
Winslow Lighthouse follows an animal-shelter stop. After the travel cut, make coffee and feed the dog. Follow the named companion rendered as Charles in the walkthrough; another source uses Charlie, so let the in-game subtitle settle the spelling. Complete the prompted photo sequence, follow the path, and use the lighthouse itself as the next camera target. The interior stairs lead to the closing scenes for this stop.
Peak and epilogue boundary
Williamina Peak opens with harsh weather during the drive. Increase the wiper speed when prompted and allow the crash transition to occur. After the dream, follow the dog’s tracks in the snow and use Alfred’s calls as route context. The path continues upward after the reunion. In the final memory space, place the tray by Audrey, give her the soup, listen, then open the drawer and read the note in the journal.
The epilogue returns to Alfred’s house. Interact with the meaningful household objects, continue to the kitchen, and make dinner. The dog’s return provides the last playable action. The exact thematic meaning belongs in the ending guide; mechanically, the route closes when Alfred goes to play with his companion.
Pick safe stopping points
Use a campsite, completed album scene, new-day transition, or stable main menu as a break. The route labels are navigation aids and should not be used to promise a manual chapter-select feature. Before exiting, let the current conversation and save complete, then allow Steam Cloud to synchronize.
If you are stuck inside one section, identify the latest completed cue in the table. The puzzle guide isolates multi-step interactions without requiring you to read the remaining story. If every required object responds but the state does not change after one clean reload, use the known-issues reporting checklist.
