Olympic-Level Stick Thrower is a dog-play achievement. A launch completion guide reports that playing with the dog three times is the trigger and points to several sticks near a cannon at Captain Marley & The Buccaneers’ Retreat. Treat each fetch interaction as a complete cycle—pick up or use a stick, throw it when prompted, and let the dog finish—then verify the unlock on Steam.
Reach the resort without closing its side activities
Captain Marley & The Buccaneers’ Retreat begins with the ticket booth and entry into the abandoned attraction. The main objectives lead through the galley, a nightmare, the planks and bolt cutter, the arcade, souvenir shop, and harbor. Search the outdoor amusement-park space before boarding the boat, because that transition moves Alfred toward the island and closing memory.
Locate the cannon landmark and inspect the nearby ground for interactable sticks. Decorative branches do not count simply because they resemble a throwable object. The usable item should produce a prompt or dog-play state when Alfred faces it with the camera lowered.
Keep the dog close enough to participate. If it is following another route cue or dialogue, finish that beat first. Do not begin the boat or another scene transition while testing the counter.
Complete three full play cycles
Use the first recognized stick and wait for the game to enter the throwing interaction. Aim only as much as the scene requires; the published fallback describes repetition, not a measured Olympic distance. Throw, watch the dog’s response, and allow the cycle to resolve before moving to the next nearby stick.
Repeat with a second and third valid opportunity. Count complete dog interactions rather than raw button presses or loose objects picked up. If the dog never reacts, that attempt is weak evidence for the achievement counter.
The title suggests distance, but the available same-game guide describes three play interactions. Do not invent a farthest-possible throw, exact angle, or hidden meter. If the current Steam description exposes different wording, the live platform entry takes priority.
Use earlier and later dog moments as backups
The Sam Detour walkthrough tells Alfred to play with the dog by throwing a stick during the field walk. Winslow Lighthouse also includes sticks along the route. These are confirmed story-context opportunities, but the public source does not say whether a throw there contributes to the same three-action counter, whether the counter spans sections, or whether only the resort cluster is intended.
Use them naturally during a completion run. Record the route and whether the dog completed the interaction. If the achievement unlocks before the resort, that is useful live evidence. If not, the cannon cluster remains the cleanest fallback because the cited completion guide explicitly associates it with the condition.
Dog ignores the stick
Finish dialogue, move away from the current story objective, and let the dog return to Alfred before trying the prompt again.
No stick prompt appears
Lower the camera, inspect the ground near the cannon from another side, and distinguish usable items from scenery.
Three throws, no unlock
Ask whether all three included a dog response and completed return. Try the remaining nearby valid stick rather than repeating one animation rapidly.
Route is ready for the boat
Delay boarding until the interaction and Steam state are settled; the island is a story transition, not a better stick area.
Separate this achievement from other dog photos
Forever Ago has other dog-related actions and public achievement names. “It’s A Bird It’s A Plane It’s Doggo” concerns a photography choice at a later scene, while the stick-throwing condition concerns play. Taking a picture of the fetch does not replace the throw cycle unless the game separately prompts it.
The field selfie with Sam and the dog likewise belongs to the journal and selfie systems. Use it when requested, but do not count it as one of the reported three play interactions. Keeping the action types separate makes a missing unlock easier to diagnose.
Recover and report without risking the save
After the third complete resort cycle, wait in normal control, open a stable menu, and let Steam update. If nothing appears, use another clearly recognized stick and observe the full response. Do not leave the resort, force-close during saving, or replace the save immediately.
If you already boarded the boat, finish the scene and preserve your progress. Check supported replay access from the menu; public launch evidence does not guarantee that every optional action can be backfilled through chapter selection. A new run should be a last resort, not the first troubleshooting step.
For a useful report, include the number of completed dog responses, exact section, cannon landmark, whether earlier Sam or lighthouse throws occurred, current build, input device, and Steam status. A player question about non-unlocking is evidence of uncertainty, not proof of a universal defect.
